Turkish Tiles Painting Workshop

Turkish tiles have decorated palaces, mosques, and homes for over 500 years. In this workshop, you get to make one yourself.

What you'll experience

You'll arrive at Betul's beautiful studio in the heart of Sultanahmet — a warm, creative space with a stunning rooftop terrace overlooking Istanbul's historic skyline. Betul and her family welcome you like a guest in their home, not a customer in a workshop. The session starts with a short introduction to the art and history of Turkish tile making — one of the most celebrated crafts of the Ottoman era. Then you get started. You'll choose from a selection of traditional Turkish patterns, learn how to transfer your chosen design onto a real ceramic tile, and paint it using authentic ceramic paints with Betul's patient guidance at every step. Once you're done, your tile is glazed and fired in a kiln — and will be ready to collect or ship within 7–10 days. No experience needed, just curiosity and a love for beautiful things.
